Apenas comienza el verano, y ya he pisado tantas playas que todos me preguntan si me paso el día al sol en alguna terraza. Este año, descubrí (o más bien digamos que he podido reafirmar con certeza) que lo que más me apasiona en este planeta es justamente el hecho de recorrerlo. Viajar es mi meta, mi gasolina, mi felicidad.
Este año, por casualidades varias, he podido disfrutar dos veces de la maravillosa isla de Gran Canaria. Mi mejor amiga es de allí. Y en uno de mis viajes, ella fue quien vino conmigo. Disfrutamos las dos de unos días de risas, (mucho) sol, comidas al aire libre y descanso en el hotel Riu Palace Maspalomas, que os recomiendo de corazón.
Es divertido ver como la zona de Maspalomas (situada al sur de la isla) se ha convertido en un hervidero de turistas tranquilos, más bien mayores y casi todos procedentes de Alemania e Inglaterra. Muchos de los resorts de la zona mantienen una estética y un servicio muy similar al que se deba en esos complejos en sus inicios, allá por los años 70. Y eso es lo que nos encantó del hotel Riu: vivimos nuestra estancia como un viaje atrás lleno de sonrisas, buen servicio…¡y de unas vistas espectaculares a las famosas dunas del lugar!

Summer has just begun, and I have already been around so many beaches that everybody is asking me for my secret to be so much tanned. This year, I discovered (or let’s better say that I confirmed) that travelling around the world is my favourite thing. I could call it my goal, my gas, my happiness. This year, I already had the chance to enjoy Gran Canaria twice. Luisa, my best friend, was born there. And in one of those trips, she was the one who came with me. We enjoyed both a few days of laughing, (much) sunshine, lunchs and dinner outside and relax in Riu Maspalomas hotel, that I heartily recommend. It’s quite funny to see how the area of Maspalomas (located in the south of the island) has become older and is almost ‘invaded’ by German and English people.  Most of the resorts of the area maintain a kind of vintage aesthetic and a similar service that they gave at the begining, back in the 70s. And, actually, I think that’s what we loved the most about Riu: it allowed us to experience and feel our stay there like a time travel full of smiles, great service … and spectacular views of the famous dunes of Maspalomas!
Oh, Canary Islands, thanks for your peace!
